Argentine investigators probing the death of special prosecutor Alberto Nisman have found a footprint and a fingerprint in a recently discovered access hallway to Nisman’s apartment, according to local media. The hallway that links Nisman’s apartment to another unit that belongs to a “foreign man” – who may be an Iranian.

According to the Buenos Aires Herald, the corridor is often used by the technicians who maintain the building’s air conditioning system.

The investigative team is now trying to determine how anyone could have accessed that hallway and if someone could have used it to reach the bathroom where Nisman’s body was found, blocking the door from the inside.

The corridor is the apartment’s third entrance, after the main entrance and the service entrance.

Nisman, 51, who accused President Cristina Kirchner of obstructing a probe into the 1994 AMIA Jewish center bombing, was found shot dead just hours before he was due to testify at an Argentine congressional hearing.

Given the timing of his death and the threats he received, there is a high suspicion of a framed suicide, but that leads to the question of who committed the murder.

The details of the case as well a long history of overseas assassinations suggest the culprit could be Iran, Christopher Dickey postulated in the Daily Beast Monday.

Nisman's body was discovered Sunday night in the bathroom of his apartment on the 13th floor of Le Parc Tower. The body was found on the floor with a .22 caliber pistol and one empty shell casing nearby.
